| Winner of The Gordon Banks Children's Art Competition |
|---|
The Gordon Banks' "In Safe Hands" Art Competition was open to all children. The "goal" to produce a piece of artwork reflecting 'The Spirit of '66'; that feeling of camaraderie, charity and goodwill that surrounds every international football tournament. 10 winners had their pieces framed and shown alongside the other exhibitors' works and were invited, with a guest, to the gallery on Friday 28th May to meet Gordon Banks and receive their prize. One, overall winner, George Shepherd (10 yrs) received the top prize of a perspex print of their artwork from the gallery as well as a pair of signed goalkeeping gloves from Gordon. | Original Sketch by Gordon Banks |
|---|
As part of the exhibition Gordon has produced his own, tongue in cheek, sketch of team-mate Roger Hunt which will be auctioned off for his charitable appeal - the last day of the auction being the day of The World Cup Final on July 11th. Bids for the original can be accepted via e-mail or calling the gallery on 01782 844222. The piece was signed on the evening of the 28th May at Theartbay Gallery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent. |
| The Lights of The Reebok |
|---|
Sid's new painting, the moody "Lights of The Reebok" is now on display at Theartbay Gallery. It's a superb piece, with just a hint of royal blue, which captures the anticipation and pre-match atmosphere of an evening kick off at Bolton Wanderers perfectly! Also available to buy now as a fine art limited edition print. All Sid Kirkham limited editions are signed by the man himself. |
| Sid Accepted at Manchester United's Gallery |
|---|
Recently, two of Sid Kirkham's pieces have been accepted in "The Gallery" at Manchester United's Old Trafford Football Stadium." Celebration at The Stretford End" and "Old Trafford's Welcoming Glow" will both be offered for sale and a percentage from any sale donated to Man Utd's chosen charity. It's a great testament to the nationwide appeal of his work. Also accepted is Theartbay Gallery's "Aitch" and his, angst ridden, punk paintings. "Aitch" aka Harry Davies has sold worldwide over the last 20 years. His style is becoming increasingly popular, particularly to those familiar with the effects of industrial decline (so again - pretty much a nationwide appeal!). Both artists work will be on "season long encampment" in this, most exclusive of Man Utd boxes. It's sound testament to the quality of artistic output and Theartbay Gallery would like to congratulate both artists for this achievement. |
| Sid's August 2009 Exhibition - Report |
|---|
Sid Kirkham held his first exhibiton of football artwork at Theartbay Gallery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, in early August. "The Present Past" was "a statement about friendship and camaraderie using emotive watercolours." The exhibition, which was a great success, contained a set of breathtaking depictions of famous old grounds such as Stamford Bridge, Anfield, Old Trafford and Highbury - to name but a few. |
| Sid Kirkham on BBC Midlands Today! |
|---|
It was Nick Owen, of BBC Midlands Today, who labelled Sid Kirkham's work Lowryesque and ignited a demand for Sid's work which has seen him become one of the biggest selling painters in the UK. Well Sid returned the complement on Thursday 9th July with a visit to BBC Midlands Today studios and a surprise presentation on-air to the famous broadcaster and Chairman of Luton Town Football Club. You can see it happen here. Video supplied courtesy of BBC Midlands Today Sid now has a full blown exhibition lined up at Theartbay Gallery. "The Present Past" runs for one week from Saturday 1st August to Saturday 8th August and is a statement about friendship and camaraderie using emotive watercolours. On display will be a wide range of Sid's prints and original works covering the three themes; Industrial Landscapes of The Potteries, Football Supporting in Stoke-on-Trent, and Football Supporting Across the Country. Exhibition times 10am - 5pm |

| Celebrations at Man U |
|---|
Sidkirkham.co.uk is delighted to announce the timely arrival of "Celebrations at The Stretford End", the new painting from Sid which celebrates Man Utd's success in The Premiership. Based on the Old Trafford of the 70s it offers fans of Manchester United a great reminder of what football supporting was like during the days of Tommy Docherty, uncertainty (and muddy pitches)! As with his previous Man Utd based painting, demand is likely to be high, and with a limited edition run of only 250 it won't be long before they've all gone! | Two Victorias? |
|---|
At the time of its demolition The Victoria Ground was thought to be the oldest operational football league ground in the world. Did you know that Stoke City used to kick off their matches at 3.15 to give their fans enough time to down their pints before the game? Sid's new painting, "The Two Victorias" reveals to us the pub that had a great deal to do with this, rather innovative, idea. It's available now to view at Theartbay Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent. Call 01782 844222 to reserve. |
